The GeForce GTX 1070 Mobile was a mobile graphics chip by NVIDIA, launched on August 15th, 2016. Built on the 16 nm process, and based on the GP104B graphics processor, in its N17E-G2-A1 variant, the chip supports DirectX 12. This ensures that all modern games will run on GeForce GTX 1070 Mobile. The GP104B graphics processor is a large chip with a die area of 314 mm² and 7,200 million transistors. Unlike the fully unlocked GeForce GTX 1080 Mobile, which uses the same GPU but has all 2560 shaders enabled, NVIDIA has disabled some shading units on the GeForce GTX 1070 Mobile to reach the product's target shader count. It features 2048 shading units, 128 texture mapping units, and 64 ROPs. NVIDIA has paired 8 GB GDDR5 memory with the GeForce GTX 1070 Mobile, which are connected using a 256-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 1443 MHz, which can be boosted up to 1645 MHz, memory is running at 2002 MHz (8 Gbps effective).

Being a mxm module card, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Mobile does not require any additional power connector, its power draw is rated at 120 W maximum. This device has no display connectivity, as it is not designed to have monitors connected to it. Rather it is intended for use in laptop/notebooks and will use the output of the host mobile device. GeForce GTX 1070 Mobile is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 3.0 x16 interface.
