Product Description
The AMG8833 infrared thermal camera sensor can detect humans from up to 7 meters (23) feet away.
It is a great choice for creating your own human detector or mini thermal camera. We use this breakout code on a Raspberry Pi with a compatible board (the sensor communicates via I2C) or Python. On the Pi, with the help of the SciPy python library for image processing, we can insert an 8x8 grid and get some really nice results!

This AMG8833 thermal imaging sensor is an 8x8 array of infrared heat sensors. When connected to your microcontroller (or Raspberry Pi), it will return a set of 64 individual infrared temperature readings over I2C. It's like those fancy thermal cameras, but compact and simple for easy integration. The AMG8833 is Panasonic's next generation 8x8 thermal infrared sensor and offers higher performance than the previous AMG8831. The sensor only supports I2C and has a configurable interrupt pin that can trigger when any individual pixel goes above or below a threshold you set.
