The MIC5201 is an efficient linear voltage regulatorwith very low dropout voltage (typically 17 mV at lightloads and 200 mV at 100 mA),and very low groundcurrent (1 mA at 100 mA output),offering better than1% initial accuracy with a logic compatible on-offswitching input .

Designed especially for hand-held battery powereddevices,the MIC5201 can be switched by a CMOSenable signal .This enable control may be connecteddirectly to V IN if unneeded .When disabled,powerconsumption drops nearly to zero .The ground currentof the MIC5201 increases only slightly in dropout,further prolonging battery life .Key MIC5201 featuresinclude current limiting,overtemperature shutdown,and protection against reversed battery.

The MIC5201 is available in several fixed voltages andaccuracy configurations .It features the same pinout asthe LT1121 with better performance .Other options areavailable;contact Microchip for details .
