The DS125BR820 is an extremely low-power highperformance repeater/redriver  designed to supporteight  channels carrying high speed interface up to12.5 Gbps, such as 40G-CR4, 40G-KR4, SAS/SATA,and PCIe .  The receiver's continuous time linearequalizer (CTLE) provides high frequency boost thatis programmable from 3 to 10 dB at 6 GHz (12 Gbps)followed by a linear output driver . The CTLE receiveris capable of opening an input eye that is completelyclosed due to inter symbol  interference (ISI) inducedby interconnect medium such as board traces or twinaxial-copper cables . The programmable equalizationmaximizes the flexibility of physical  placement withinthe interconnect   channel    and improves  overallchannel performance .

When operating in 40G-CR4/KR4,  SAS/SATA,  andPCIe  applications,   the  DS125BR820  preservestransmit  signal  characteristics,  thereby allowing thehost controller and the end point to negotiate transmit​ equalizer coefficients .  This transparency in the linktraining   protocol        facilitates   system  levelinteroperability and minimizes latency .

The programmable settings can be applied easily viapin control, software (SMBus or I2C), or direct loadingfrom an external  EEPROM .  In EEPROM mode, theconfiguration information is automatically loaded onpower  up,   thereby eliminating the need for  anexternal microprocessor or software driver .
